Quick and Easy Ways to Move around Your Document Hands-Free
Dragon Naturally Speaking has several tools that will help you to verbally move around a document in your word processor. I do most of my document creation in two programs. Microsoft Word and DragonPad. Here are a list of highly valuable tools & commands that allow you to move quickly and easily throughout your document.
The “Mouse Grid” command allows you to move the mouse to a specific spot on the screen without touching your mouse. When you speak the command “Mouse Grid” a grid will open up on your screen numbered 1-9. By speaking the number indicated on the grid your mouse moves to the center of that section and the mouse grid will remain but it will be smaller. It will still be numbered 1-9. Continue the process until the mouse is where you want it.

“Move Mouse Up” will start the mouse cursor moving up slowly. Note: After you speak “Move Mouse Up” the mouse will start moving slowly, but you can speed the progress up by speaking the command “Faster”. You can say faster three times and the mouse will move three times faster. This feature works when you speak the commands “Move Mouse Up” “Move Mouse Down” “Move Mouse Right” “Move Mouse Left” “Drag Mouse Down”, “Drag Mouse Up” , “Drag Mouse Right or “Drag Mouse Left”.

When working in a document, email or multiple line text, speaking the command, “Move Up” will move the cursor up one line in the text. You can also use the command “Move Up” followed by a number from 1-19 to move up that many lines.

When you use the command “Insert” before or after any word in your document, and that word appears more than once in the section of the document you’re currently working on, numbers will appear indicating everywhere the word you just spoke appears. Simply say the number that appears next to the particular word you are commanding the cursor to insert to and the cursor will move to that point. Example: If you were to say “Insert Before Working” right now where you are on this page, the numbers 1-5 would appear right next to the word working. 1-5 appears because the word working appears 5 times in this section of this document. Numbers will appear any time you select any word that appears more than once in the section of document you’re working on.

The “Select” command is extremely powerful. It will allow you to quickly select and edit any word or group of words, a sentence, a paragraph and even a full page or your whole document, quickly and effectively. Once a word or phrase is selected, you can tell Dragon what you want to do with it. A correction menu will pop up when you select a word and the menu will give you multiple options. By selecting a word or phrase, a list of similar words and phrases will pop up on the menu, and you will have the choice of picking the correct item on the list, deleting it, or changing the word or phrase.
